HER MOTHER HAD TAKEN OFF A GAP YEAR AFTER GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN SOUTH KOREA. COMING FROM AN AFFLUENT FAMILY, SHE HAD NO WORRIES ABOUT HER FUTURE AND CHOSE TO TRAVEL BEFORE FINALLY SETTLING DOWN. SHE MEETS JOIE'S FATHER IN EUROPE AND JOIE IS PROMPTLY BORN EIGHT MONTHS LATER IN PARIS, NAMED JOIE DUE TO HER MOTHER'S OVERWHELMING JOY WHEN SHE HELD HER FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.JOIE AND HER MOTHER RETURNED BACK TO KOREA WHEN SHE WAS TEN AND CONTINUED HER EDUCATION THERE UNTIL SHE MOVED BACK TO THE US AT THE AGE OF SIXTEEN, EVENTUALLY GRADUATING. SHE NOW ATTENDS USC AS AN ART MAJOR.HER POWERS DIDN'T COME IN UNTIL AFTER HER SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. OR MORE SPECIFICALLY, HER EIGHTEENTH BIRTHDAY. SHE HAD BEEN SKETCHING LATE AT NIGHT IN BED, DOODLING RANDOM BITS OF FLOWERS. SHE AWOKE THE NEXT MORNING WITH GREY MONOCHROME FLOWERS SURROUNDING HER WITH HER SKETCHBOOK BLANK.

JOIE'S FATHER WAS A FALLEN ANGEL, REINCARNATED MANY TIMES WITH AN EERILY SIMILAR FACE. HE HAD FALLEN IN LOVE WITH EUNHA AND ONCE HE FOUND OUT SHE WAS PREGNANT, HE FLED. SERAPH a higher ranked angel in the celestial hierarchy of heaven / elysium. if a seraph falls from grace, they lose an extensive amount of their powers but manage to retain enough that they're still more powerful than a human. it's joie's father's DNA that managed to push through, causing joie to inherit the ability of creation through her drawings.CREATION. joie can create anything, non-living and living, from her drawings. the constraints to her ability is that whatever she draws will become that exact size when she brings it to life.
- NON-LIVING: joie prefers this since it takes much less energy, less power.
- LIVING: joie's more hesitant with this because not only does it take far more energy, she has to be very careful with how accurate her drawing is. she could essentially create a zombie if something goes wrong.
